July 30 -Prayer Life of Jesus 6

Jesus took with him Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. And while he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became dazzling white. ~Luke 9:28-29

Jesus is the “new Moses” who will deliver his people.

Just as Moses went up Mount Sinai, and when he came down his face was shining, so with Jesus.

Here is the Moses account. Compare it with the account of Jesus in Luke 9 above.
But whenever Moses went in before the Lord to speak with the Lord... the Israelites would see the face of Moses, that the skin of his face was shining. ~Ex. 34:34-35

I have had people ask me how long their daily devotions should be. That’s not a question that can be answered with a a number (how many minutes) but with an experience.

You should be in your daily devotions until you know you are in the Presence of your God, however short or long that takes!
The purpose of “devotions” is for us to renew our total-life devotion to God. And there is nothing that will do that better than coming into God’s Presence! When you come into the Presence of God, you don’t come out of that experience the same!

This is what 2 Corinthians 3:18 refers to when it says that we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another.
In the Presence of God we are transformed, day by day, into the image of Christ!

Jesus would pray until He came into a sense of the Presence of His Heavenly Father, and it transformed Him! In the story of Luke 9, it transformed Him so much that it overwhelmed His closest disciples.
If you’ve really been in prayer... really been in the Presence of God... people will be able to tell, without you telling them!

How long should you pray? Until you shine!
