Day 3 - Philippians 1:9

Yesterday I reflected on Paul's response to Christian leaders who have  morally failed the Gospel (and the Church).

In Philppians 1:9 Paul prays for his fellow Christians so they do not fall or fail like others had. So here's the prayer… short and sweet:

I pray this: that your love will keep on growing in knowledge and every kind of discernment...
~Phil 1:9.

In this brief prayer, Paul prays for three essential things in their lives that will keep them faithful:

(1) Love - Jesus said this is the most important… to love God and to love our neighbors as ourselves. You will strive with all your might to fail neither God nor your fellow believers if you love them!

(2) Knowledge - We don't want a mindless, naive faith, but one based on a solid, biblical understanding of God will and God's ways.

(3) Discernment - A spiritual dimension added to the intellectual;
the ability to discern what is good (of God) and what is not,
and a commitment to do what is good and Godly, no matter what.

I think it would be great if we would pray this kind of prayer for each other. I know that I could use a bigger dose of love, knowledge, and discernment in my life. How about you?
