Day 12 - Philippians 2:16

In Philippians 2:16 Paul tells the Philippians to Hold firmly to the message of life. He knows that we can all too easily lose our grasp on the truth. It is all too easy to get distracted or have the message diluted.

We tend not to consciously choose to walk away from the truth. We rather tend to slowly drift away from it due to inattention. As we are warned in Hebrews 2:1, We must, therefore, pay even more attention to the truth we have heard, so that we will not drift away.

Good works, good idea, good ideals, popular and politically correct ideologies can distract our energies and dilute our message.
We need to stay committed to our core message and calling.

Paul is clear that his purpose in life is to bring people to faith and then encourage their spiritual maturity, even if at great personal cost… even if his life is sacrificed in the effort! Even if I am poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith,
I am glad and rejoice with all of you.
~Phil 2:17

What sacrifice am I making to encourage the faith of others?
