Day 20 - Philippians 3:21

On this All Hallow’s Eve (also known as Halloween), with so much emphasis on death, let’s focus a little on the power of life!

We Christians admit the reality (and the fearsome power) of death.
But we see something beyond it... not zombies or ghosts, but glorious resurrected bodies!

Paul was talking about this in Philippians 3:21... Christ will transform the body of our humble condition into the likeness of His glorious body, by the power that enables Him to subject everything to Himself.
Paul proclaims the link between death and resurrection!

Paul has just talked about the cross (Phil 3:18) , and reminds us that for those who understand and embrace the cross, there is a coming resurrection! The same power which resurrected and transformed the body of Jesus the Christ will resurrect and transform our dead physical being into the likeness of the Resurrected Jesus!

And, O yes, God has the power to do this, and gives that power to Christ, the power that enables Him to subject everything to Himself.
I am thankful that I have become subject to the Lordship of Christ.
And glad to know, because of that, my death will lead to LIFE!

     Death be not proud, though some have called you
     Mighty and dreadful, you art not so.
     For, those, whom you think you overthrow,
     Die not. Poor death, nor yet can you kill me.
     One short sleep past, we wake eternally,
     And death shall be no more;
                     death, then you shalt die.

                                                           ~John Donne, about 1610 AD
